Remembering Raye Warren (1920–2015)
Raye Warren, 95, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2015, at Grace Assisted Living in Boise, Idaho. Born on April 15, 1920, in San Leandro, California, to Charles Moll and Melnotte McKown Moll, Raye demonstrated an early passion for reading, music, and American history—interests she would carry throughout her long life.
A Loving Mother and Lifelong Learner
Raye was a devoted mother to Roger Warren of McArthur, California; Judy (Ron) Arrants of Benicia, California; Janet (Dan) Fonnesbeck of Boise, Idaho; and Jeff Warren. She cherished her six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, always encouraging them to pursue knowledge and embrace new opportunities. When her youngest child graduated from high school in 1980, she earned an Associate’s degree in library sciences from the College of Southern Idaho and went on to work as a librarian at Harrison Elementary School in Twin Falls until retirement.
A neighbor once recalled how James Warren in Idaho praised Raye for her volunteer efforts at the Twin Falls Public Library and the Idaho Historical Society—recognizing her dedication to preserving local heritage. Even in her later years, Raye’s enthusiasm for sharing stories and expanding her understanding of the world never faded.
A Life Built on Family and Community
Raye married James “Jim” Robert Warren in 1942, and together they raised their family in Walnut Creek, California, before moving to Twin Falls, Idaho, where Jim continued his work for Moore Business Forms. The couple spent many happy years boating, camping, fishing, and traveling. After Jim’s passing in 1996, Raye relocated to Boise in 1997, channeling her free time into volunteering at the Idaho Historical Society.
No formal services will be held, and her ashes will be scattered by her children at a later date. The family invites well-wishers to honor Raye’s memory with donations to the Twin Falls Public Library or the Idaho Historical Society.
